HomeMade Sweetened Condensed Milk

We can use sweetened condensed milk in many Indian desserts like halwa , kheer etc. Condensed milk is a main ingredient used in egg less cakes. It is available in market, but you can also make it at home very easily. This is very healthy as it doesn't contain any preservatives.

To prepare condensed milk we will use only three ingredients and will follow very easy steps, but all you need is lots of  patience as you will be  burning your calorie by standing in front the gas for almost 45-50 mins.!!

Ingredients :

500 ml 3% fat milk/thick milk
18-20 tsp of sugar
1/2 tsp of unsalted butter

How To prepare ?
  • In a heavy bottomed pan, Boil the milk and add sugar to it.
  • Reduce the flame to low, Now take spatula or a fork and keep stirring it every two mins otherwise it will burn. You just cant compromise on this, you have to stir at least twice/thrice every minute.
  • After 10-15 mins, it will start changing the color to pale yellow.
  • Continue stirring until it thickens. Don't make it too thick because it becomes hard after it cools down. You should stop after you get into a right consistency.
  • To check whether we have reached to a right consistency, just drop a syrup on another plate and let it cool. After a minute touch the syrup with a dry forefinger and then touch your thumb and forefinger together and pull apart gently if it sticks or forms a thin string you are done. It took almost 55 mins for me.
  • Add a unsalted butter and switch off the flame and give a quick stir.
  • Allow it to cool completely and transfer it to a container and store it in a fridge.
