Cardamom Wheat Biscuits

Ingredients:

Wheat flour /atta/wheizen mehl type 1050 - 1 cup
salted butter - 1/2 cup
powdered sugar - 1/2 cup ( you can powder the normal sugar available in your kitchen, I usually use little less than 1/2 cup as I don't like too sweet biscuits)
cold milk - 2-3 tsp
baking powder 1 tsp
4-5 green cardamom ground into smooth powder

How to Prepare ?
  • Preheat the oven to 180 degree C
  • Cut the butter into small cubes. Add these cubes along with wheat flour into big mixing vessel .
  • Use fingers to mix it well until butter melts and blends well with the flour .
  • Now add sugar , baking powder, cardamon powder and mix again.
  • Add milk little by little and mix the mixture and prepare the dough. Don't add the milk in one go , add the milk only as much as you need to get a desired consistency of the dough.
  • Now dust the board/area with little flour where you will flatten the dough .Flat the dough into 1/4 inch thickness evenly.
  • Using bottle lid or cookie cutter cut into biscuits of your desired shape . I have used round shape lid here to cut it .

  • slowly remove the biscuits and place on the baking sheet .
  • Gather remaining dough and repeat the same method as mentioned in previous two steps until all the dough is used.
  • Bake in a preheated oven for 10 mins at 180 degree C only. You should bake until bottom side and edge of biscuit starts turning into light brown. After 10 mins , turn one biscuit and check the color.Do not turn all the biscuits.Turn only one biscuit just to check the color. If its not yet done, keep it for 5 more mins and check again . It varies from oven to oven . In my oven it took almost 16 mins
(The below pic is taken just before I took the biscuits out from oven)

  • Remove biscuits from the oven and store it in a airtight container after it cools down. (below pic is taken after taking out from oven and showing up the bottom side of biscuits by turning )
