Gobi Poriyal/ Gobi Masala /Cauliflower Dry Curry

This is an Indian dry vegetarian dish prepared with Gobi/Cauliflower. Very easy preparation as we will be topping the gobi with three basic Indian spices. That's All :-)
This dish can be prepared in lot many other ways like using tomato, potato, capsicum etc in the preparation. But here,we will not be adding any other vegetables just to ensure we enjoy the taste and flavor of gobi exclusively!!
This can be served with hot Rice and Rasam or Rotis.

Ingredients :

500 gms Gobi/Cauliflower
1/2 tsp red chilly pwder ( Please adjust according to your level of spicyness)
1/4 tsp jeera/cumin powder
pinch of turmeric powder
pinch of black pepper powder
salt to taste
2-3 tbsp of oil

How To Prepare?
  • Chop the gobi into small pieces and wash once.Transfer chopped gobis into a large bowl. Now pour hot water into a bowl.Add turmeric and pinch of salt too and leave it for about 10-15 mins.
  • After 15 mins,Drain the water and keep the washed gobi aside.
  • In a heavy bottomed pan/kadai, heat 2-3 tbsp of oil and add gobis. Keep Sauteing  until gobis becomes soft.Make sure that it is not too soft.It took 12 mins for me, it depends on the type of Gobi we use. Now add  cumin powder, black pepper powder , salt and red chilly powder and mix it well so that gobis will get all the masala.
  • After 5 mins switch off the flame and serve with hot rice and rasam.
