Masala Bun


Masala bun is a home made fresh baked bun with the touch of three Indian spices. Flavoring with a mix of cumin/jeera powder,red chilly flakes and coriander leaves gives the bun special taste.




Ingredients:

100 ml Water
Salt to taste ( if you are using salted butter you should add little less salt to adjust)
200g All purpose flour /maida
2 tsp Sugar
1/4 tsp yeast
3/4 tsp Cumin powder
1/2 tsp red Chilly flakes
1-2 Green chilly chopped finely
1 tbsp chopped Coriander chopped 
15-20gms of butter



How To Prepare?
  • In a large mixing bowl , Mix  salt, sugar, yeast ,all purpose flour, cumin powder, chilly flakes, chopped green chilly,chopped coriander leaves. Now add water and prepare the dough and knead it for 5-7 minutes.
  • Rest it for 5 minutes after that add butter and knead the dough again for 5-7 minutes .Cover a wet cloth and Let it rest it for 30-35 minutes.
  • After 30 mins,punch it and knead the dough for 5 mins and cover it with wet cloth again.Let it rest it for 15-20 minutes.
  • After 15 mins, sprinkle little flour on top and knead for 2 more mins and divide the dough into equal portions and make balls  ( I could make 8 balls out of it )

  • Place these balls in a  baking tray /sheet and cover with wet cloth again. Keep it for final round resting for about 20 mins .
     
    (after 20 mins , you can see the ball/bun rise)

  • Meanwhile , Preheat the oven to 200 degree C.
  • After 20 mins, apply water wash on top of balls, bake them at 200 degree C for 20-25 minutes. After 20 mins, check whether it has baked completely, bake it for 5 more mins if required.
       
       

  • Apply the melted butter on top of the baked masala bun after taking it out from oven and enjoy with Tea .



    Note : Slit the bun horizontally/vertically and apply butter before you serve.
